Dr. Nayana Patel, Akanksha IVF Center Kaival Hospital, Anand, Gujarat 388001
Ph: +91.269.225.3789 Email: nayana@ivfsurrogate.com
- Saw Dr. Patel on the Oprah show and received a good review. I would only do surrogacy if the surrogate was being looked after and living in a controlled environment so nutrition, excercise and other factors would be monitored. Dr. Patel's clinic showed all of these qualities. Her website at http://www.ivfcharotar.com/. We contacted her and had a few correspondence back and forth. We notified our jobs for time off (we requested vacation).
- November 2007- Dr. Patel, told us exactly what we needed: to start Birth Control Pills (BCP) from Jan. 8-28, 2008, all meds and injections will be done in India and we needed a Visa to travel to India. Once we new we needed a Visa, we looked up online (https://indiavisa.travisaoutsourcing.com/homepage) the documents needed and where the closest Indian Embassy was (NY, NY). We applied for a tourist visa, filled out the online application. Once that was done, they gave us an appointment and we needed our passports, current photographs, proof of address and fee (which we applied for a 10year visa because we dont know how many tries its gonna take and for delivery).
- November 3, 2007 went to the Indian embassy, handed in my stuff and we received it the same day (they text you when its ready to pick up). We stayed in NY and walked around and did shopping in Manhattan, my fav place!!
- I scheduled my OB/GYN appointment and she started me on BCP (she actually gave me a pack for free because it was only for a month, but gave me a perscription to fill in case i lost the pack or something- Thanks Dr. Sanghavi!).
- Looked up flights online and booked with Qatar Airways. BEST BEST SERVICE EVER. Truely 5-star as they advertise.
- January 8-28, 2008 started BCP and neeed to see Dr. Patel on Feb. 2, 2008 to start injections. Booked hotel online and emailed Dr. Patel to confirm for us. Stayed at La Casa Inn- VERY GOOD and resonable price (http://lacasainn.in/).
- 2/2/09- Cetrotide injection, started Gonal F the next day (200IU). Continued that everyday until 2/7/09 then increased to Luveris (75IU) and hCG (1200IU) after first scan which revealed RO- 4 follicles, LO- 4 follicles all between 6mm-14mm.
- 2/4/09- met surrogate for the first time, very emotional.
- 2/9/09- injections continue daily and 2nd scan was done today. RO- increased follice sizes and a total of 5, LO- increased follices. (we took day trips to shoppping plaza's, Baroda, and other site seeing trips with Mr. Uday and then on our own locally with autorickshaws).
- 2/11/09- final scan and injections RO-22mm, 21mm, 23mm, 15mm, LO-19mm, 18mm, 15mm.
- 2/12/09- Final shot of Ovitrilled at 10pm by Sonil a fab nurse!!!
- 2/14/09- retrieval under anesthesia. Number of eggs 2. Number of Embryo 1.
- 2/16/09- transfer to surrogate.
- 3/2/09- Received a call- it was a negative pregnancy through email and attached Beta report, which was under 6.
We neeed a break but found support from the very beginning with help from other IP's at http://surrogacyindia.forum5.com/index.php
Our expereince with Dr. Patel was different. her husband (Dr. Hitesh), Mr. Uday, and staff were all nice but I felt at times they were showing favoritism and weren't honest about the success rates or any questions we had. We hardly spoke to Dr. Patel when we were there, i understand she is a busy woman but when i am spending so much money i would like to ask questions and feel a sense of warmth. I only saw her the day of my scans and retrieval, as my shots were given by the nurses and contracts/$$ were dealt with Dr. Hitesh. Mr. Uday took alot of $$ from us to and from the airport and left us there without waiting until we went in. We had no clue where to go, but i guess its not his job, but he took his money straight ($120 round trip).

Mandy,
Love your post and I couldn´t agree with you more on all the things you mentioned.
Qatar Airways rocks!!! I have flown with many airlines, but this one is definitely the best. They immediately upgrated us to business class because I was not feeling well on the way home. But even economy class had an excelent service and food. Highly recommend to anyone flying to India. Not recommending Mr Uday, though, (for those going to Anand). Better and much cheaper service is available there.
thanks for providing a breakdown, mandy. it's very useful. i might do the same a little later. xxx
Mandy,
thanks for this. I'm trying to do the same thing with all my questions and discussions with IP's on my Blog. The more we share, the better off we are,
cheers, CC
